Rift/Quarter Sawn Red Oak Flooring

In plainsawn flooring, grain patterns are open and swirly, but as in Red Oak, the grain in rift and quartersawn flooring (frequently sold in this combination) is tight and has greater toughness and dimensional stability, and for this reason, it is often used for radiant heat floors. White Oak flooring is selected for dyed installations because the color is more evenly accepted and for bleached floors where uniform “whiteness” is achieved. All nailing and finishing operations are easily performed with White Oak flooring.
